About Us
How We Work
We facilitate conversations. Conversations that clarify identity and purpose, align stakeholders, elevate every voice, and build trust. Between generations, within generations and with advisors.
Whether with an individual, couple, family, or family office, we intend for the work we do with our clients to be transformational. From day one. Our process is bespoke and iterative because often, our clients’ goals evolve over time. And it can be really fun!
Change takes time, perseverance and patience. Our clients understand this. Our goal is to guide our clients through the initial stages of their journey and then step back as they increase their ownership and leadership in the process.
We start each engagement with a full exploration of the client’s primary concern. From there, we conduct a discovery process with as many stakeholders as possible, the goal of which is to produce a work plan for the rest of the engagement. The work plan has measurable outcomes and can include things like assessments, educational modules, family meetings, family governance planning, articulation of purpose, team alignment and more.
The longest phase of the engagement is the implementation of the work plan. This is usually at least a 12 month process. As we work together, we look and listen for any new ideas that arise so that we can fully support each client.
Then we iterate. When appropriate, we amend the work plan. We stay with the client until they are ready for us to step back.
Why It Matters
Research shows that communication and trust are critical to financial and family success.
90% of the time, earned wealth is lost in three generations due primarily to a lack of communication and trust within the family. It is possible to change these dynamics.
When we learn how to navigate the complexities of having financial wealth, we can use it to express what is most meaningful to us. We can find our drive to be our best selves, contributing to the betterment of our families, communities and the planet.
The power of private capital to change the world is immense. We are passionate about helping wealth holders to realize this and creatively leverage all of their resources toward a better world.
No one deserves to experience pain, shame and disconnection associated with money. And everyone deserves to live a meaningful life.
Our Philosophy
Wealth dynamics addresses the interplay between the three dimensions of wealth: personal, interpersonal, and structural.
The structural dimension is where most families and their advisors have traditionally focused: investment strategies, trusts, tax and estate planning, and so on.
But the hidden, and often messy, personal and interpersonal dimensions of wealth are often unaddressed, leading to a great deal of shame, family discord, poor financial decisions, and in the vast majority of cases, the dissipation of the family’s wealth within just two or three generations.
Whether we are facilitating financial literacy, family communication or family office strategy, we address all three perspectives, focusing on the personal and interpersonal and how they impact the structural.
What does this really mean? It means that we work with our clients through structured conversation, setting specific goals, and measuring progress along the way. We also work collaboratively with our clients’ team of advisors to make sure their goals are reflected in all of their planning efforts.
